We will be celebrating the Midsummer night on the 23rd (Revetlla de Sant Joan) and recovering from the celebration on the 24th, so the bookshop will be closed on Tuesday.
Happy Summer Solstice to everyone!!!
We have noticed major issues in our database and we do not trust it any longer.
We are in the process of fixing the problem, but in the meantime we recommend you do not assume that books you find in the catalogue will actually be in the shop. Do call us to find out: 932 174 796.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
We are currently (although very slowly) working on offering a better on-line service so you can get cheap books from a small shop near you.
We have 2 very capable people working on adapting our database and designing a new website.
Simultaneously, in the shop, we are working on updating our inventory so the books that appear on the website are actually available. Currently about 60% of the sections have been inventoried. Apart from a few glitches you can trust the catalogue of the sections that live at the front part of the Hibernian bricks and morter shop (if you've been to the shop you know which they are).
All of this is happening while we are still opening the shop everyday This means we do not have a date that we can say all of this will be ready.
In the meantime, this old and cranky website is what we all have to put up with. Please do call us if you need any help: 93 217 47 96
Hibernian Books is the only secondhand English Bookshop in Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital city of Catalunya. We are an actual physical shop.
We opened our first shop in May 2004 after boxing (with the help of friends and family) and shipping from Dublin some 30.000 books. In January 2006 we moved to our present location.
With more than 40,000 books in our collection we have a wide range of fiction and non fiction titles in stock. From children's books through to antique novels, we have books to fit every taste and prices to meet every pocket.
Most of our stock is used books, but we also have a small selection of new books and a growing selection of overstocks, books that are nearly new at a nice price. Please check our contact details and location map for exact details on how to find us.
Our book catalogue is now on-line, enabling you to browse our stock. The on-line shop has been on its way for years, but is now a reality in the horizon. We will be able to ship to all parts of Spain and the rest of Europe, providing you with a great value alternative to the "Book Giants" with their exorbitant shipping fees.
